Welcome to Penzance Choral Society
Here you will find information about one of the oldest mixed voice Choral Societies in the country and possibly the most western! Cornwall is an area with a rich history of choirs and singing and we are proud to be a part of that. This site contains details of our past, present and future with our 150th anniversary now behind us.
Our weekly rehearsals take place on Friday nights at 7pm at Humphry Davy School, Coombe Road, Penzance TR18 2JG.
We always look forward to welcoming back existing and returning choir members, as well as new choir members who are looking to sing within a people-friendly choir. All you need is enthusiasm, an enjoyment of singing, and a pencil! We will provide the music and the tuition.
COME ALONG, JOIN IN AND TAKE PART
Penzance Choral Society is a mixed choir of over 60 voices. We perform two main concerts a year, one in May and one in December, and also sing in local churches at special events. Our repertoire is wide ranging, with recent concerts including works by: Dvorak, Bach, Handel, Haydn, Puccini, Mozart, Elgar, Verdi and Vaughn Williams. Our concert venue is the Methodist Chapel, Chapel Street, Penzance, and our rehearsals take place at Humphry Davy School, Coombe Road, Penzance.
We are a non-audition choir and if you are interested in joining us, you are invited to attend three rehearsals to find out if we suit each other. Our membership subscription is currently £50 per annum; membership for singers in full time education is completely free.
